Beso and Baci six months on

January 27, 2019 by Rachel Daisy Leave a Comment

Well it has been about six months since I posted about Miss Beso and Miss Baci, and oh how things have changed.

One big lesson I have learnt with training a puppy is a lot of it comes down to your confidence.
Baci is now standing up for herself a lot more, even though Beso begs her to play.
They have a lovely routine, a walk together in the morning and then a run in the park in the afternoon.

One of the most gorgeous things they do each day is give each other little kisses, before they go running in the back garden.

Beso completed her puppy school with flying colours, and I can not recommend doing this with your puppy highly enough. It teaches you the basics and how to communicate with your dog and how to get them listening to you. We did a four week course. Beso learnt to sit, drop, stay, come, look, drop, stand, and much more and has really helped with her training at home. We used Training Wheels as I live in Daylesford and Colleen was just wonderful.

Besos graduation coincided with her first clip so she looked all smart for the occasion.

Beso and Baci still love playing together and it has become a morning ritual in our household.

Christmas was fantastic for little Beso she was so excited about all the food especially the ham. When I took out the ham to bake she stood up on two legs sniffing the air. And then went loopy.

Both the girls got Christmas presents, both new bowls Beso a special go slow bowl to slow down her eating which is proving to work and harness each. But the big present was Beso got to go off lead at the dog park for the first time and boy oh boy did she fly.

So into January we had a few really hot days coming and so I got Miss Baci clipped right back, she is pretty good in the heat.

But Beso hates the heat so I got her a cooling mat which arrived on the morning it was going to be 42 degrees and as soon as I unpacked it she was straight on it.

Its been so lovely watching these girls bond and now Baci is settling back into her own routine and not always playing. But Beso gives it a good try.

We all wish you and your puppies a very happy new year, and may it be filled with lots of walks, bones and cuddles.

Introducing Miss Baci and Miss Beso

August 21, 2018 by Rachel Daisy Leave a Comment

Growing up as of the age 8 we always had miniature schnauzers so that is where my love of them started. Pictured above is my Baci who is 9 years old and was born on the 12 March. She is spoilt rotten. And who also has become very much a therapy dog.

Joining the family, thanks to be lovely father very shortly is Beso, kiss in Spanish to match Baci, kiss in Italian. This is a photo of Beso at 6 weeks old. She is being collected by my dad on the 1st of September who is very excited.

Beso feeding with her brother and sisters, there were two litters both black on black.

Fresh after a clip curled up by the fire

Miss Baci tucking me into bed for my nanas nap. very sweet.

So that is an introduction of Miss Baci and Miss Beso

Bringing Home a New Puppy

January 24, 2018 by Rachel Daisy Leave a Comment

Welcome home Beso and welcome to the family

My father was awfully generous and kind, and got me little Beso. It was like a count down from the moment he said would you like another schnauzer. I think he was just as excited insisting he would go to the airport to pick her up.

My father used a beautiful breeder who specialized in black schnauzers. When I met her I was outside Dad’s place and they were just arriving home from the airport, he got out of the car and had this tiny bundle in a white bamboo blanket chewing his finger off. And all he said was I think shes hungry.

So we feed her and then the sweet little puppy went straight to the door to go outside, as she was already toilet trained. That night I went back to my hotel with her and had so much fun but was nervous about her meeting Baci. The next morning we headed off to Daylesford early in the morning.

The meeting.

The meeting went well Baci was not to phased by her and that night we all slept on the bed together.

Then over the week came the getting to know you and the playing increased. And I love watching her play with Baci.

You can visit my you tube channel for lots of videos of them playing.

Little Miss Beso is a chewer and was a biter, to stop the biting habit I used a technique called the yelping method. So it is mimicking the other pups in the liter, so when she bit I yelp and eventually this stopped her from biting. The chewing she started on the furniture and now she knows if she gets caught doing that she will go into her crate with a raw hide chew for a while. Now she has stopped on the furniture.

I keep my house pretty tidy and for a week there we looked like a total mess.

So far Beso has learnt to sit, drop, toilet, and follow. We are working on a hand shake and down at the moment. She has been getting a mixture of liver treats and affection as a reward.

I have both Baci and Beso on an ethical diet so I had to set out and find locally made dog treats and chews. I found this wonderful company Blackdog who does all natural, Victorian made treats.

It has been the most beautiful and calming thing watching Baci and Beso form a bond. They even play on the bed at night. For a puppy Beso doesn’t sleep much as they are playing however she will sleep through the night,

I hope all you puppy lovers are loving puppy hood as much as myself and find as much comfort in your animals as I do.
